WESTERN, NY

With the two Western, New York-centric TV series you'll find on this page, we were simply driven by a desire to uncover and celebrate the hidden charm, unique character, strong community spirit, and the vital role that small towns and their local businesses play within this often-overlooked region.
Our goal was to share the authentic stories and the distinct flavor of these places, and this region at large, to a much wider audience than it usually receives.
Yes, we are fully aware that most people believe that their region, county, town and or city is the best place to live, work and play.
   We get it.
   We complete understand.
We can empathize with how living in a place inherently allows a certain level of civic pride and bias. But we also know that beyond a shadow of a doubt, some places, are truly and undeniably more livable, workable and agreeable for the majority of people than most.
With that idea in mind though, WNY really is one of those exceptional places and is a true hidden gem that more and more people are quickly discovering and moving to.
We hope these series play a small part in the understand of why this is so.

A Bit
More On
Why We Created
These Two

Series

There are so many compelling reasons to create a series spotlighting Western New York's small towns and businesses that we'd thought we'd share a few with all of you. It's a region brimming with character and untold stories. Here are a few thoughts that come to mind:

  • Uncovering Hidden Gems: Western New York is dotted with charming small towns, each with its own unique history, architecture, and local flavor. The "Small Town WNY" WNED-TV series brings these often-overlooked places to the forefront, revealing their hidden gems to a wider audience. Think about the quirky shops, the historic landmarks, the scenic beauty that might not be on the typical tourist map.

  • Celebrating Local Businesses: Small businesses are the backbone of these communities, offering unique products, personalized service, and a strong sense of local identity. Highlighting these businesses helps them thrive, fostering community pride and encouraging people to shop local. You could showcase family-run establishments, innovative startups, or businesses with a long and fascinating history.

  • Preserving History and Culture: Small towns often hold a rich tapestry of local history and cultural traditions that are at risk of being forgotten. The "Discovering WNY" WNED-tv series documents these stories, preserving them for future generations and offering insights into the region's past. This could involve interviewing long-time residents, exploring local archives, and showcasing historical sites.

  • Connecting Communities: By sharing stories from different towns and businesses, you get a true sense of connection across the region. People might be inspired to visit neighboring towns they've never considered or discover businesses they didn't know existed. This can foster a stronger sense of regional identity and collaboration.

  • Showcasing the People: At the heart of every small town and business are the people – the passionate entrepreneurs, the dedicated community members, the individuals with unique stories to tell. "Discovering WNY's" small business series brings these personalities to life, creating engaging and relatable content that resonates with viewers or readers.

  • Promoting Tourism and Economic Growth: By showcasing the appeal of Western New York's small towns and businesses, the series attracts tourists and encourage economic activity in the region. This benefits the local economies and help sustain these communities for years to come.

We could wax poetic for hours about the many reasons A.A. decided to produce two TV series about Western, New York, but overall, we think the points above cover our most visceral feelings about the subject.
We hope through watching the two series, you can understand my point as to exactly why, Western, New York's small towns and the businesses it contains are such truly special places and people.
       Thanks so much for watching.
